Target Animal Safety Study on Carprofen Injection in Cows |
|
(HeBei Yuanzheng Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd.) |
Abstract: |
In order to evaluate the target animal safety on carprofen injection in cow, 20 healthy cows were divided into four groups randomly, each group was given carprofen injection at a single dose of 0, recommended dosage(1.4mg/kg B.W.), 3 times of recommended dosage(4.2mg/kg B.W.)and 5 times of recommended dosage(7.0mg/kg B.W.)respectively. Mental state, feed intake, water drinking and fecal examination were observed and recorded daily throughout the experimental period, and the body weight changes during the experiment were recorded. Before administration and twenty-four hours after the last administration, blood and serum sample were collected for hematological and biochemical assays. And selected organs were obtained for organ coefficients and histopathological analysis. The results showed that the clinical symptoms, blood biochemical and physiological indexes, dissection and tissue microstructure of different dose groups of carprofen injection were found no significant abnormalities and no toxic symptoms or death were found. Compared with the control group, there was a significant difference in the average platelet width in blood physiological indicators between the 3 and 5 times of recommended dosage (P<0.05).
Significant increase in the number of blood biochemical indicators albumin in the 5 times of recommended dosage (P<0.05). However, all indicators fluctuate within the normal range. In conclusion, the recommended dose(1.4mg/kg B.W) of carprofen injection was safe to cow. |
